Day 19: A Praying Life
September 28, 2018
“So, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” – Colossians 1:9 (ESV)
“Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” – Colossians 4:2 (ESV)
We discover that prayer was interlaced throughout the letter to the Colossians because it was woven so deeply in Paul’s heart as he wrote. His writing and his leading were evidences of his pursuit of Christ and lifestyle of prayer.
In today’s lifestyle, we can easily draw a firm line between prayer and Bible study. We see a clear distinction between prayer and ministry activity. This is often seen in our tradition of opening and closing our gatherings in prayer. Perhaps for Jesus and Paul, that line was virtually indiscernible. Prayer was not about some obligatory duty attached to specific responsibilities but rather a pulsating spiritual desire that permeated all things in life.
So what might happen if we lived, related, worked, and served in the context of a praying life?
