“He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb…And they sang a new song…”
Revelation 4:7-9 (NIV)
If there is only one true God, how is one to explain the worship of Jesus? To anyone who adheres to polytheistic beliefs, Jesus appears to be a second god. Jesus himself even says once when in a confrontation with Satan, Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only (Matthew 4:10). So, is it okay to worship Jesus?
John, through a revelation from God, was transported to heaven and stood before God’s throne. He observed first four creatures and then twenty-four elders who surrounded God’s throne fall down and worship God. But when a Lamb (Jesus) was the only one found worthy and able to open a sealed scroll, those same four creatures and elders fell down before him and sang a new song of worship to Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb. Like water rippling away from a tossed pebble, those gathered beyond the inner circle took up the song. Thousands of angels joined in, followed by every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea. Finally, a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people and language lend their voices in worship. The message could not be clearer; Jesus has been found worthy of our praise and worship.

Father God, I am in awe at how you anticipate my questions about you, Jesus, and everything I don’t quite understand…and provided answers in Scripture. As I search and read, help me to understand, for I don’t think that your Word is a mystery not to be understood.
