We are excited to partner with you as you guide your elementary students in their faith! Below, you will find details about the lesson we learned this week and a helpful activity to reinforce the lesson at home.
Bible Story: Jesus Was Born
In this Bible story, we learned about the birth of Jesus. The birth of Jesus was good news! Jesus was not an ordinary baby. He is God’s Son, sent to earth from heaven. Jesus came into the world to save people from their sins and to be their King. He wasn’t born into a palace with a crown or royal servants, but into a manger among the animals.
Read more in Luke 2:1-20.
Memory Verse: 1 John 4:9
“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him”
Home Activity: Spreading the Good News
God showed that Jesus was not a typical king by the atypical conditions of His birth. Jesus wasn’t born in a palace, and the news of His birth wasn’t shared first with important government officials. Instead, angels told the news of Jesus’ birth to shepherds, outcasts in their society, showing that God’s gift is for everyone. Ask your child to think of someone or a group of people who might be forgotten at Christmastime. Together, come up with a plan to show that person or group that God loves them and remembers them this Christmas!
