Elementary Parent Connect: January 14

Dear Parents,

We are excited to partner with you as you guide your elementary students in their faith! Below, you will find details about the lesson we learned this week and a helpful activity to reinforce the lesson at home.

Bible Story: Stephen’s Address

In today’s Bible story, we learned that the Holy Spirit filled Stephen with power and gave him the courage to face death. Stephen understood that his future was with Jesus in heaven. Nothing the religious leaders could do to him would change that. Jesus had already saved him from sin. Stephen wanted others to know that Jesus is the only way to be saved and was willing to die for that true message.

Memory Verse: Philippians 2:13

“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose”

Home Activity: Take a Stand

In today’s Bible story, Stephen had to stand up for the truth even though it put him in a dangerous position. Ask your child if he or she has ever had to stand up to friends or others for something that he or she knew was right or true. How did your child feel about taking a stand? Use this opportunity to share one of your own stories. Allow the two of you to speak openly and honestly about your situations. Let your child know that standing up for what is right is not always easy, but God wants us to ask Him for the courage to do it.
