We are excited to partner with you as you guide your elementary students in their faith! Below, you will find details about the lesson we learned this week and a helpful activity to reinforce the lesson at home.
Bible Story: The Emmaus Disciples
In this Bible story, Jesus appeared to two disciples on their way to Emmaus, but they did not recognize him. Only when he broke the bread and gave thanks while at the table were their eyes opened. Then they went to share the good news in Jerusalem. Read more in Luke 24:13-35.
Memory Verse: Ephesians 2:8
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
Home Activity: Puzzle
Tell your child that you are going to complete a puzzle together. Put all the pieces out before you, but don’t show your child the picture on the box. Spend some time attempting to fit the pieces together. After a few minutes, finally show your child the box. Then work on the puzzle once more. Talk about which way was easier. Before Jesus came, people had pieces of the puzzle to how God planned to redeem His people; but after Jesus came, everyone could see the big picture!
