We are excited to partner with you as you guide your elementary students in their faith! Below, you will find details about the lesson we learned this week and a helpful activity to reinforce the lesson at home.
Bible Story: Jesus Was Anointed
In this Bible story, Mary gave up perfume that was very expensive because she wanted to show Jesus how much He was worth to her. Jesus welcomed Mary’s act of worship because Jesus saw that she knew He was more valuable than anything this world has to offer. Read more in Matthew 26:6-13 and John 12:1-8.
Memory Verse: Luke 4:18
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Home Activity: What Do You Treasure?
At mealtime, ask the family what they would ask for if they could have anything in the world. Let each person give his or her answer (Make sure they explain why they chose their answer!). Use this prompt to guide a discussion on values and how we want to make sure that God is always our greatest treasure.
