Elementary Parent Connect: September 30

Dear Parents,

We are excited to partner with you as you guide your elementary students in their faith! Below, you will find details about the lesson we learned this week and a helpful activity to reinforce the lesson at home.

Bible Story: The Wall is Rebuilt

In today’s Bible story, we learned Nehemiah and the people had rebuilt the city walls and gates in 52 days. Jerusalem was safe and protected. Now that they had a safe place, the Israelites honored God. The people gathered together, and a priest named Ezra read God’s Word to them. Ezra praised God, and the people followed his lead.  They worshipped God and celebrated all that He had done.

Read more in Nehemiah 3-4, 6:15-16, 8:1-17.

Memory Verse: Colossians 3:23a, NIrV

“Work at everything you do with all your heart. Work as if you were working for the Lord.”

Home Activity: Thankful Treats

God has done so many things for all of us, but sometimes we are too busy that we don’t even notice. Your child and you can take time to take notice! Tell your child that you are going to have a celebration. Buy or bake large cookies, white icing, and decorating gel. As you are baking or preparing the cookies, talk about all the things that God has done for you and for which you are thankful. Together, spread icing on each cookie and write one of those things on each cookie. Then celebrate together the goodness of God with your delicious cookies!
