We are excited to partner with you as you teach your preschool kids about Jesus! Below, you will find details about the lesson we learned this week and a helpful activity to reinforce the lesson at home.
Bible Story: The Angel and Mary
In this week’s lesson, we learned that Mary had found favor in God’s eyes for being a humble servant, so He sent an angel to tell her the good news of how she will bear His son. You can watch the Bible story video on the Parent Cue app.
You can read more in Luke 1:26-33,38,46-49.
Memory Verse: Isaiah 9:6, NCV
“God has given a son to us.”
Home Activity: Reason for the Season
The Christmas season is full of beauty and wonder, but it can be a challenge to keep the focus on Jesus during this busy time of year. Help your family to remember the reason you celebrate as you count down the days until Christmas by considering one (or both!) of the ideas below:
- The liturgical church marks a time of preparation and hope leading up to Christmas. They call this season “Advent,” and Advent starts today. Many churches light a candle each Sunday leading up to Christmas, and this tradition can be a meaningful way to look forward to Christmas with your child. There are many ideas online to create your own Advent wreath with your family, such as this one from Pinterest.
- The Jesus Storybook Bible has 24 stories leading up to the birth of Jesus, and there are many Advent reading plans that go along with this Bible online, as well. Read one story a day (or two if you need to catch up) until Christmas Day!
