In today’s story, these men found friendship, support and ultimately freedom as they developed a community centered around knowing Jesus. As they met each week and authentically shared things happening in their lives, they grew into a brotherhood that rallied to pray and support each other, even on the toughest days. We believe God wants you to have that too. Authentic connection to God’s people will lead to experiencing breakthrough and freedom.
God hardwired us to be in community. Put simply: we’re not meant to do life alone! We can learn this by looking at the life of Jesus. He spent three years travelling, ministering to hurting people and teaching them about the Kingdom of God, and he invited 12 men to follow Him and be His disciples. To be a disciple meant that they lived up close to Jesus and learned to do everything He did. They were his closest friends!
In your new journey of faith, God has designed relationships to not only offer friendship, but also to help you find freedom from sin and brokenness. We believe the Bible teaches us to go to God for forgiveness and to His people for life-changing freedom. Meaning, you confess your sins to God to receive forgiveness, and you share your struggles (past and present) with His people to heal and move forward.
Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
