Today’s Bible Reading:

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

Colossians 1:17

Reflection:

So much of life pulls at us—good things, heavy things, distracting things. We drift toward what feels urgent. We try to hold everything up on our own. But Paul in his letter to the Colossians reminds us of something truer than our pressure or pace: Jesus is the One who holds all things together.

The song Center helps us return to that place of simplicity and surrender.

You be the center of it all

My heart belongs to You

My Savior all in all

These lines are more than poetic. They are a reorientation. Worship brings us back to the better thing, the way Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet instead of being swept up in everything around her. When we sing the bridge,

My whole life for Your glory

My whole world for You only

Everything for the honor of Your Name

We’re offering Jesus the one thing He desires most. He wants our attention and allegiance. We’re letting Him reorder what our hearts have made complicated.

Putting Jesus at the center doesn’t remove the pressure of life, but it restores perspective. It reminds us of Who is steady, Who is strong, and Who is actually holding our world together.

Practice:

As you listen to the song Center today, ask Jesus, “What has taken center stage in my heart?” Give Him that place again. Let the bridge become your prayer of surrender and simplicity.
