For Jake and Rachel, knowing God led to a new way of living life. They discovered that God wanted a personal relationship with them, and that meant being all in! They chose to give God their whole heart to be truly connected to Him and to His people.
God’s desire to have a relationship with you started from the very beginning of time! In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, God tells us that we were made in His image.
This is the written account of Adam’s family line. When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and blessed them.
Genesis 5:1-2a
That’s where God’s love story began. Now He invites us to not only know about Him, but to actually know Him as a person. It’s amazing that the God of the universe wants to know us in that way. God knew that we couldn’t find our way to Him on our own. That’s why He sent Jesus to give up His life so that we could be reconciled to a relationship with God.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
Jesus gave everything for you to know Him! And just like building any other relationship, you start by spending time with Him, becoming familiar with His voice, and opening your heart to His amazing love. His love makes everything new!
There is something inside all of us that is looking for fulfillment. We often try to find it through relationships, success, material possessions, etc. But all those things fall short. When we say yes to God, we begin to see how our desires are uniquely met in Him. God knows what we need, and He patiently meets us where we are. As you get to know God, you will find different ways to connect with Him. Some experience closeness to God by walking and praying out in nature, some like to read their Bible in a peaceful room, and others feel very close to God singing in worship during a Sunday service.
As you explore this new relationship, we encourage you to attend weekend services regularly. Get to know God’s people – we hope you will make 12Stone your church home. Coming to worship and hear a teaching is a great weekly rhythm of connecting with God and your new church family. Remember, to Know God is the foundation of building a lifelong relationship with Him.
